Welcome to the far north queensland clinic, also known as fnq clinic where Dr Mary-Ellen O’Hare is your treating psychiatrist. The policies and methods of practice of fnq clinic are explained here so that we can establish a comfortable patient-doctor relationship. Dr O'Hare respects the trust which is implicit in your being seen at her practice. We aim to provide polite, confidential and courteous treatment from all practice personnel at all times.
Referral from your GP or another specialist is required to make an appointment. Your referral will be triaged by Dr O’Hare for its suitability and an appointment offered if suitable. An email with all the details for your upcoming appointment will be sent to your provided email.
It is very important that you confirm your appointment at least 24 hours before. Appointments are tight so we try to offer new referrals priority where possible. Please let us know if you are coming or not, so we can offer your time to another on the waitlist if not.
Dr O’Hare will see you alone usually, unless there are issues of language barrier or intellectual impairment. This would be pre-arranged.
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment to ensure you are not held up by parking issues or rain. Dr O’Hare will do her best to run on time and if significant delays are expected you will receive a text to warn you and rescheduling can be arranged if it is inconvenient.
Dr O’Hare knows you have often waited a long time for an appointment, so she will do her best to address all your concerns in your first appointment which will take 6o minutes. Thereafter, sessions may reduce to 45-50 minutes depending on your needs. On occasion, your appointment will be shorter and the fees will reflect this.
